Are we speaking your language? That’s no accident. We choose our industries with intent—because no competitive advantage rivals experience.
Recently, we had a client come to us with a problem related to our Events Calendar. They’d created an event, but when they posted it they found a whole host of duplicate ticket sales and event attendees. What happened?
Since our client knew they wanted to post exactly the same event two years running, they had gone back to their original event from the year before and edited the event date… but as a result, they inadvertently retained all the previous year’s attendees and ticket sales.
This is a really easy mistake to make.
We’re all so used to copying and pasting, editing and re-editing, that sometimes we do this without realizing what data we’re taking with us. Fortunately, the solution is super straight-forward.
If you find yourself with a past event that you’d like to repeat, go to your events page and hover over the event. You’ll notice a number of options appear, and the one you want is “clone.” This will make a copy of your event separate from the original, and any changes you make to it will be completely distinct.
The “clone” option will create a distinct copy of your original event.
Alternatively, you can make the event recurring. Use this if you know your event will be repeated on a regular basis. If you have tickets attached, you’ve no need to worry: Clubhouse will treat these as separate events.
A recurring event will treat each event’s ticket sales individually.
As a final note, if you’ve used a form to register guests for your event, be extra careful. When one of your members fills out a form, the data they submit is all stored in one location. If you want it stored separately, you need to create a new form. So if you re-post an event using the same form—and this is especially true for recurring events—you won’t be able to tell what event the form results relate to.
Is this confusing? Don’t worry. We know forms vs. tickets are a complicated topic, so we’re writing a whole new blog post about it! Stay tuned!
